Above: Margot’s bird
Today during choice time we finished the coin project and started a new art project- making birds! We used empty toilet tissue rolls for the bodies and craft sticks for legs and necks. We glued googly eyes onto paper cut-outs for the heads and then attached those to the necks. And of course feathers!
The bird table was very popular. We’ll keep making birds until we everyone gets a chance and we have a flock in our classroom.
At the library we read the fifth book for the California Young Readers’ Medal, Memoirs of a Goldfish by Devin Scillian.
We thought this was a really funny book, especially the angelfish named Cha-Cha. We talked about this book in comparison to the other four books we read. Next week we will write our choice for the best book on the CYRM ballots and turn them in. After the people organizing the medal count up all the ballots from across California, they will announce the winners.
When we were done with our discussion, we chose our books for the week.
