Over the past four months the after school program has been working on a community garden mural. The theme for the mural is our garden habitat and the life cycle.
Here Carmela is drawing a picture of a girl harvesting a strawberry. All the students chose images from the garden that they wanted to include in the mural. They practiced drawing them and then they were transferred onto a sample mural sketch to be used as a template.
Students helped with painting the primer on the wall to get ready for sketching the images.
We then went over the wall will grid lines and drew the images with charcoal. The students and other community members will now be able to paint the images easily using this process.
Come out this Sunday from 12-4p.m. to help us finish painting the mural. Please bring old clothes you don’t mind getting paint on, t-shirts for youth will be provided.
See you in the garden!
