Room 104 has been through a lot of changes this year. Ms. Lauren has stepped in and in just under a couple months, the students are in a new routine learning and growing. She has brought a different twist to the kids usual day. In stead of doing a longer “work shop” in their reading, writing and math the kids are now broken into smaller groups and work for shorter periods. The groups are color coded and a chart gives the kids an idea of what they should be working on through out the day. In the early part of the day, each group moves into a different workshop every 20 min or so. In one segment they may be reading with a partner. In another one they may be working independently on their stories. This pace seems to keep the kids a bit more focused on the work at hand. It also allows Ms. Lauren to have personal time with each group as they will also rotate to a station where she works with them as a group.
Teaching Kinder isn’t an easy task especially when it comes to keeping the kids focused on the task of learning! Fortunately, it seems to be working for Room 104 once again.
