2nd graders debut their narrative nonfiction books

Student presenting his book

Today the students in Mr. Andrew’s class showcased their accomplishments as authors and publishers. Each student created a book that recounted an event that was meaningful to him or her with a detailed narrative describing actions, thoughts, and feelings. Their stories included temporal words to show the passage of time and order of events, and communicated the conclusion of the story with a strong ending. And each book featured a beautiful cover illustrating an aspect of the story inside.

Students shared their books with one another and the families that came to participate in the event. Each story was unique to the student who wrote it; topics included a trip to visit grandparents, swimming, Minecraft, and organizing a club with a friend. The books will be displayed in a gallery in the classroom, so if you weren’t able to make the presentation, you can check them out at SFC over the next few weeks.
