K-5: Visual Art, Dance, and Music
Project-based learning inherently involves hands-on creativity and working with a broad range of materials, so art and building and creating is built in to our curriculum.
Additionally, each class rotates through trimesters of weekly arts with credentialed instructors, exploring dance, music, and visual art. We are very fortunate to have talented artist-educators sharing their expertise and passion with our students.
Middle School Grades: Enrichment
Middle schoolers have a daily enrichment period which includes visual art and drama. Students are working with visiting artists to learn spoken word and creative writing as part of a three-year partnership with Performing Arts Workshop and Global Writes. Students compete nationally in poetry and spoken word slams using our videoconferencing center.
And more music!
Elementary students participate in the San Francisco Symphony’s Adventures in Music program, which includes a sequence of music performances and a concert at Davies Symphony Hall. 4th-8th grade students have the option of taking a musical instrument at school. Our music teacher gives weekly instrument lessons in small groups or individually. Intermediate and advanced students play in a small ensemble. In addition, all K-8 students can participate in our wonderful school choir, Voices of Joy.
